Krupp area is the cradle of China modern iron and steel industry, locates in the southwest of Expo area and on the convex bank of central waterfront area of Huangpu River. The development target is to build a science innovation center and cultural international metropolis, develop urban renewal, in order to complete the transforming of industrial land property. In our scheme, our Italian design team referred two urban renewal projects in Milan which are very famous in Europe – City Life and Porta Norva, basing on project local characteristics, defined a reasonable function program and layout, create a walkable neighborhood through an external boundary vehicular ring and restrict axes of internal penetration and extend no-car zones. Transect planning: discernable center and edge increase density at the edge and create an urban fabric center section, transfer Krupp area into a future new landmark in Shanghai.
